St. Paul Park opens Legion home stand with big win

St. Paul Park Post 98 opened the home season with a rousing win over visiting South St. Paul Thursday in Cottage Grove, winning 13-5.
South St. Paul led 4-1 after three innings but Park pushed across 10 runs in a huge fourth inning to break the game wide open.
Luke Hatano ripped a leadoff home run in the fourth to get the rally going, doubled later in the same inning and scored two runs. Park’s players added a single and five walks in the big inning, Justin socked two doubles, walked and scored three runs.
It was the first win of the season for the Post 98 team.
“This is a group that’s been together for a while, I’ve coached both these groups as sophomores,” said manager Scottie Harrison. “So, I’d say our expectations are pretty high. They’re higher than last year for sure. We’ve got a lot of seniors on the team, some good arms. We’re off to a little bit of a slow start, we’ve been in some tight games. We lost two games by one run so its good to come out tonight and get the bats hot and get in the win column.”
Next up for the team is a game Saturday at Austin.
