Park hires new head girls swim and dive coach

Wolfpack softball and girls swim coach resign

Will Arnsparger has been hired as the new head coach of the girls swim and dive program at Park High School. He takes over for Amanda Johnson, who resigned from that position this spring after leading the program for the past 15 years.

Johnson’s resignation is one of two longtime Park High head coaches who will be leaving as softball coach Bob Loshek also resigned earlier this summer. Loshek decided to step away from Park to pursue other interests, said Phil Kuemmel, Park High School Activities Director.

Next softball season Loshek will be reuniting with John Tschida at St. Mary’s University. Loshek coached with Tschida at St. Thomas before taking over the Park softball program in 2009.
Loshek compiled a record of 282 wins and 78 losses for the Wolfpack.
“I’m very excited to get back to the collegiate level! Getting to work with college softball’s greatest coach is something that is very special.”
The softball head coaching position opening will be posted later this summer.
Swim and dive coach Johnson also had a successful decade and a half of coaching Park athletes.
“I appreciate everything that Amanda has done for our girls swim and dive program. She has put in a lot of time and energy for our student-athletes over the years,” said Kuemmel.
Johnson will continue to coach the boys swim and dive team.

Coach Arnsparger comes to Minnesota with a variety of coaching experience in California, at both the high school and club level. He swam competitively in college and is an English teacher at Park HS.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Arnsparger take over our girls swim program,” said Kuemmel. “The experience that he brings as both a coach and former swimmer will benefit our program. Will realizes the importance of building relationships with his athletes and is excited to continue building the program. His purpose of ‘giving back and helping to create lifelong memories’ will help Park’s student-athletes in both swimming and life.”

“The sport of swimming has given me not only fun memories, but the sport has taught me many valuable lessons that I have relied on in my life,” said Arnsparger. “These lessons and the infectious energy I lead with, are what I plan to give back to this great school.”

A “Meet and Greet” will be hosted by the Girls Swim and Dive Booster Club at a date and time to be announced.
